Less than a week until Valentine’s Day but we’re still trucking along with ideas to help you make this one special. If you were to come by the library today and ask us personally for an idea, you might notice that the usual suspects behind the desk are a different group. That’s because we’re putting our
money where our mouth is hands where our heart is and helping out at Empty Bowls a.k.a our 9th cheap date in our 14 Days of Cheap Dates.
Empty Bowls is a soup based fund raiser for the Oxford Food Pantry hosted each year in Oxford-University United Methodist Church from 11:00-1:00. For $15 each person gets to select a ceramic bowl (donated from various organizations but all handmade), fill it with soup (donated from restaurants all over town) and have a sit down lunch with other locals. All proceeds go directly to the Pantry and you get to take home your bowl.
As for us? We’ll be behind the soups dishing out our favorites and talking to everyone who stops by. We’d love to see you. We’d love to hear if you read about Empty Bowls from our blog. And we’d love to break last years goal of helping raise more money for those in need in our community. Come see us.
