Wondering what your favorite LCOPL public servants love to watch this time of the year? We did a staff survey of sorts and decided we would let our fans know the horror films we love to watch as Halloween gets closer. As Oxford is a diverse community, so is your library staff. Enjoy our top horror movies list and have a Happy and Scary Halloween!

Jeremy: Dead Silence
Seth: Let the Right One In
John: Silence of the Lambs
Demetrius: Cloverfield
Andy: Evil Dead 2
Nancy: The Legend of Sleepy Hollow – Disney version
Sarah: Jaws
Vicki: The Amityville Horror
Adam: Little Shop of Horrors

Corey Vinson, our Reference Librarian, says he watches Bram Stoker’s Dracula (the one with Gary Oldman and Keanu Reeves) every Halloween.

Our “fearful” leader, Laura Beth, has an unhealthy adoration of Rosemary’s Baby. Mia Farrow’s look and the Dakota and all of it. But for sheer fright, The Blair Witch Project scarred her more than any movie has in years. When she saw it she had a basement where she had to do her laundry and would never look into the corners! And since she tends to ramble on, she has to mention that Stephen King’s book, The Shining, also messed her completely up and is one of her favorite frightening books ever. And Shirley Jackson’s short story, The Lottery. And Nancy’s choice of the The Legend of Sleepy Hollow by Disney kept her awake for a week as a child. Ok, we have managed to make her stop!

If the LCOPL doesn’t have your favourite horror films, let us know. We will do our best to get them for you. And novels as well.

Have a safe October 31st!
