Jane on Jane, a Confessional

charlotte gainsbourg

I am from St. Joseph, Louisiana, but I grew up in Oxford and graduated from Oxford High School in 2006 (Go Chargers!!). I attended Whitman College in Walla Walla, Washington, where I applied because I liked the alliteration and which I decided to attend because there were baby ducks in the pond and creeks on campus, and there was a piano in every dorm room. I have both studied and worked in France, where I watched all of “True Blood” because I missed hearing accents from my birth state.  I returned to school to do a Linguistics Master’s program at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne in England. Whilst there, I learned to use pretentious, Englishy sounding words like “whilst”. Never in my life have I found “Jane Eyre” lacking in guidance.

FavJEorites:

Books (in order of when I declared them my favorites):

Goodnight Moon (Margaret Wise Brown)

A Wrinkle in time (Madeleine L’Engle)

Jane Eyre (Charlotte Bronte)

One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest (Ken Kesey)

A Tale of Two Cities (Charles Dickens)

Peter Pan (J.M. Barrie)

Cranford (Elizabeth Gaskell)

Favorite films that are not Jane Eyre:

JE new

Film Versions of Jane Eyre I’ve watched in order of Preference:

Jane Eyre (1973)

Jane Eyre (2011)

Jane Eyre (2006)

Jane Eyre (1996)

Jane Eyre (1983)

Jane Eyre (1970)

Jane Eyre (1934)

Jane Eyre (1997) – This one I didn’t even finish… which should tell you how bad it is.

This started as a joke… now I actually think I have a problem.

And my one true confession: When looking up the dates for these films, I was truly excited to learn about five more I haven’t seen. I am ordering them from the library now.
